Possible financial collapse threatens to exceed the total dollars in circulation.

The Bank for International Business (BIS) has issued a warning about a financial crisis on a scale never seen before. With $80 trillion at stake, this crisis could exceed the total number of dollars in circulation.

BIS researchers can predict financial crises three years in advance by using machine learning to aggregate predictions from different models. A global financial expert has pointed out that a hidden corner of the financial world has been stretched to an “unsustainable” extent, putting the world in a “dangerous” position.

This is yet another sign that global funding has become too big for its own good, leaving the world at its mercy. The global financial crisis was triggered by the collapse of the investment bank Lehman Brothers in September 2008, but even its $619 billion debts were less than one percent of the amounts at stake today.
